Eleven individuals have been charged following their interception by the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard off the Erin coast on April 3rd, 2026.
The group was detained during a coordinated maritime operation and subsequently handed over to police. Following investigations and legal guidance, charges have been laid for immigration-related offences.
The suspects, eight males and three females between the ages 19 and 44, are allegedly Venezuelans. Nine are being charged with Illegal Entry and two are being charged with Illegal Entry and Aiding and Abetting.
All eleven individuals are expected to appear before the court to answer to the charges.
The public is reminded that assisting or facilitating illegal entry into Trinidad and Tobago is a serious offence and persons found engaging in such activities will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
