32-Year-Old Man Detained By Police In Connection With Pigeon Point Jet Ski Incident

Police have a 32-year-old man in custody in connection with Wednesday’s fatal jet ski incident at Pigeon Point Heritage Park, Tobago.

Reports indicate the jet ski operator fled the scene after the collision, abandoning the vessel, which has since been confiscated by Crown Point Police.

The incident claimed the life of seven-year-old Angelica Jogie of Barrackpore, a student of TML Primary School.

Relatives say the child was inside the designated bathing area near the perimeter rope when a jet ski breached the barrier and struck the family.

In a Facebook Live address on Wednesday evening, Tobago House of Assembly Chief Secretary Farley Augustine extended condolences to the Jogie family and confirmed the collision occurred within a bathing zone.

He also announced that the Buccoo Marine Park, including Pigeon Point, will be closed on Thursday to facilitate investigations.
