One of Trinidad and Tobago’s top performers at the CARIFTA Aquatic Championships in Martinique was 15-year-old Marena Martinez.

Martinez, a Laventille resident, copped a total of five medals in her third CARIFTA appearance, including a gold medal finish in the Girls 14- to 15-year-old Open Water event.

TTT Sport spoke with Martinez, who expressed pride in her performance and that of the team.

The CARIFTA Aquatic Championships was also a highlight moment for 12-year-old Micah Alexander, who made his debut this year.

The Point-a-Pierre native won silver in the Boys’ 11- to 12-year-old 100-metre backstroke and bronze in the 200-metre breaststroke.
