Three people are assisting police with investigations following the discovery of 56 unclaimed bodies at the Cumuto Cemetery on Saturday.
Speaking at a TTPS Media Briefing on Monday, Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro said investigators have determined that the incident was an attempt to dispose of human remains.
He said forensic and investigative teams are moving swiftly to identify the bodies and determine how they ended up at the cemetery.
“Investigators are continuing apace as officers of the National North Division Crime Scene Investigations Unit have fingerprinted the six adult bodies recovered as part of the process to verify identities. Additionally three persons are currently in police custody assisting the investigations which remain ongoing, as statements are currently being recorded and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
