Muncipal Officer To Be Charged With Murder And Firearms Offences

A 28-year-old Municipal Police officer is expected to be charged today with the murder of Acting Corporal Anuska Eversley, following a deadly incident at the San Fernando Municipal Police Station on Sunday, April 19th.

The officer is also expected to face additional charges, including robbery with violence, trafficking of firearms and possession of ammunition, after legal advice from Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard on Tuesday.

Police say the investigation was led by senior officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three, under the supervision of top command.

Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro says the swift and thorough probe reflects the high standard expected of the TTPS, adding that no one is above the law.

He says the actions of investigators bring the country closer to justice, describing the incident as a betrayal of public trust and warning that officers involved in criminal activity will be held accountable.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
