Its the stage that every secondary school cricket team aspires to be on, the PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League Boys T20 Intercol final.

One game stood between that dream for the players of Presentation College Chaguanas and Naparima College who met in their highly anticipated semifinal on Friday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Presentation got off to a good start – 85 for two with Reyad Jerome and Christiano Ramanan at the crease.

This six from Reyad Jerome and some missed fielding by Naparima helped in what went on to be a wonderful partnership.

With 14.5 overs into the partnership, the streak was broken when Jerome was bowled by Roberto Badree for an impressive 40 runs.

Coming in was Ra-ed Ali Khan who’s shot well short of the boundary line, and was caught by Badree.

Presentation at 122 for four.

Presentation, however, would not be derailed, a thunderous six by Ramanan, he scored an innings high of 68 runs.

With overs running out, Ramanan went on a brilliant scoring run with a variety of shots. His partnership with Kyle Ramesar guided Presentation to a final total of 164 for five.

For the chase, Naparima got off to a positive start, getting 44 runs after six overs, from openers Robetro Badree and a massive six by Jordan Julien.

Presentation got their breakthrough when Julien was dismissed LBW by the spin bowling expertise of Juuvie Kantasingh.

Despite their best efforts, Naparima ultimately came up short. Three wickets by Re-ed Ali Khan with help from the other Presentation bowlers, restricted Naparima to 123 for 7, winning the contest by 41 runs.

These results set up a battle of the Presentations.
