Red Card Drama As QPCC Held To 1-1 Draw In Bacolet

Carnbee/Mt Pleasant and Queens Park Cricket Club played out a tough tie in a TTPFL Tier 2 Division One contest in Bacolet on Saturday.

In the end they had to share the points with only one head coach witnessing the entire 90 minutes of football.

The action has intensified in the Trinidad and Tobago Premier Football League Tier 2 competition with every team looking to better their position on the standings. 2nd place QPCC felt they needed this win more at the Dwight Yorke stadium on Saturday against Carnbee Mt Pleasant, as they hold title ambitions.

After absorbing a lot of pressure for the first half hour, Carnbee / Mt Pleasant almost stunned the visitors with a counter attack, if only the lob from Nave (navay) Roach was on target.

The see-saw contest continued. Dillon King did well to deny Darreon Moses’s header which was heading for the top corner. Good header, good save.

The opening item came in the 42nd minute when goalkeeper Andre Fraser failed to hold on to a cross which fell to the feet of Kaylon Williams who slotted home into a wide-open net.

Carnbee / Mt Pleasant tried desperately to get the equalizer before the half but faced a resolute Dillon King in goal who wasn’t having it. However, the referee saw a handball and awarded a penalty.

Skipper Nave (navay) Roach took matters into his own hands with a well-placed spot kick away from the keeper to level matters at 1-a-piece as they headed to the break.

The game got testy in the 75th minute, not on the field but on the sidelines when the referee had to come over and issue a yellow card to QPCC’s headcoach Wayne Sheppard who was in a tense exchange with the fourth official.

It didn’t end there as the verbal exchanges continued which saw the official return to issue a direct red. Sheppard will have to watch the rest of the game away from the touchline.

That sending off was the big talking point in the second half as both teams QPCC and Mt Pleasant were not effective in front of goal and would have to share the points in the 1-1 tie in Bacolet.
