India’s External Affairs Minister To Visit T&T

India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, will pay an official visit to Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and Suriname from May 2nd – 10th 2026.

Via a media release, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said these countries share a special connection with India, owing to the presence of Girmitiya communities.

During the visit, Dr. Jaishankar will meet with the leadership of the three countries and hold discussions with his counterparts covering the entire gamut of bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues of mutual interest.

This visit will continue the momentum of India’s political engagements with these three countries and boost longstanding and friendly relations.

The Minister is also expected to have bilateral engagements and interactions with prominent leaders of businesses and members of the Indian community in these countries.

TTT News understand that the Indian High Commission in Trinidad and Tobago will host a Welcome Reception on Saturday May 9th at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Cultural Cooperation in Mt Hope.

Indian High Commissioner to T&T, Dr Pradeep Rajpurohit, along with Minister Jaishankar, will address the community and diaspora members at the event next Saturday.
