In the wake of the tragic Easter jet ski incident at Pigeon Point, the conversation surrounding maritime safety and accountability in Tobago has taken on renewed urgency. As the Tobago House of Assembly advances the Tobago Marine Park Bill 2026, the newly formed Tobago Water and Trail Association (TWTA) is positioning itself as a key stakeholder in reshaping industry standards.

TWTA President Ricardo Alfred joins Virmala to discuss the association’s vision for safer and more professional water and trail operations through structured insurance coverage, mandatory training, stronger regulation, and improved customer service standards. The interview also explores proposed age restrictions for jet ski use, enforcement measures, accountability among operators, and efforts to restore public confidence in Tobago’s tourism and recreational sectors.
