President’s House Hosts Fourth Annual Mother’s Day Garden Concert

President’s House came alive with music, family, and celebration on Mother’s Day as the nation gathered for the fourth annual garden concert hosted by President Christine Carla Kangaloo.

The event, themed “A Mother’s Day Concert in the Garden”, expanded this year with more than 500 additional seats to accommodate a wider audience – a turnout the President described as “something very special.”

“We honour mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, godmothers, aunts, guardians, and all those who give a mother’s love. We thank you for your strength, your patience, your sacrifice, your guidance, and your grace.”

Sponsored by bp TT, the evening also paid tribute to Trinidad and Tobago’s national instrument – the steelpan – which Her Excellency recognised as a symbol of resilience, beauty, joy and inspiration. The concert featured a vibrant array of other performances.

In her address, the President highlighted two upcoming national milestones: the 50th anniversary of the Office of the President and the 150th anniversary of President’s House, which was completed in 1876. She described both as part of the nation’s story, celebrated fittingly as part of the occasion.

“What a beautiful story it is, and what a more beautiful way to celebrate that story, our story, than by gathering here on Mother’s Day with families on these lawns, music in the air, and love at the centre of the occasion.”

The President closed with blessings for all mothers and for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, noting that the concert reflects the commitment to keeping the Office of the President open, accessible, and connected to the people it serves.

“Your partnership helps us offer this event free of charge to the public, and it helps this office keep faith with a promise that I made at my inauguration: that the Office of the President would remain open, accessible, and connected to the people it serves.”
