Media Release – Global Trinidad And Tobago Hosts Sync Licensing Workshop

Global Trinidad and Tobago hosted a dynamic synchronization licensing workshop on May 14th, 2026, aimed at strengthening the local music industry through knowledge sharing, collaboration, and professional development. The initiative formed part of the organisation’s ongoing commitment to developing Trinidad and Tobago’s creative sector by ensuring that international promotion translates into meaningful local impact and opportunities for industry stakeholders.

In February 2026, Global Trinidad and Tobago facilitated 20 persons participation in the SyncSummit (NY/LA) an online and in-person events and educational platform founded in 2012 with a simple mission: To help people and companies get access to the information, tools and people in sync that can help them succeed in making and licensing music for all forms of visual and interactive media. Two of the SyncSummit delegates – Stephon Gabriel and Mark Anthony Pierre went on to participate in the workshop as knowledge transfer presenters. They were joined by Samara Lallo and featured, executive guest panelists Darryl Gervais – singer/ international songwriter/ talent manager (Trinidad & Tobago), Sherrese Moise – SMElevation LLC (Los Angeles) and Wanda Shelley – Wynter Shelley Inc (Los Angeles). Both Sherrese Moise and Wanda Shelley were an exciting add to the lineup thanks to the Film Commissioner, Leslie Ann Wills, who is handles film facilitation. They all shared valuable perspectives on navigating the global music landscape, building relationships with the key people responsible for getting your music placed and positioning creatives for international opportunities.

The evening focused building the capacity of artists, producers, managers, filmmakers, and other music and film industry professionals with the tools and information needed to better understand, access and participate in opportunities for sync licensing as an intentional form of export and/or residual revenue generation. Through open discussion and practical examples, attendees gained a deeper appreciation for how music can be monetized across film, television, advertising, gaming, and digital media.

“Locally, music synchronization continues to be an underutilized revenue stream with tremendous potential for creators and rights holders. This workshop was designed not only to share information, but to help our creative entrepreneurs better understand how to strategically position themselves within the global sync ecosystem. The handbook created was a labour of love and necessity and we hope that it is used to help realize potentials in gaining sync revenue” stated Melissa Jimenez, General Manager, Music Export Office at Global Trinidad and Tobago.

Leslie Ann Wills, Film Commissioner at Global Trinidad and Tobago, added that “Creating stronger connections between the music and film industries is critical to building sustainable creative economies. Workshops like this help foster the relationships, knowledge, and collaborative thinking needed to ensure our local content and music can compete internationally.”

In addition to the presentations, attendees participated in a speed-networking segment which encouraged direct engagement between speakers and participants allowing each participant to connect with at least 20 out of the 34 attendees. The networking session created space for creatives to connect and identify opportunities for collaboration- strengthening professional relationships within the local industry.

“Global Trinidad and Tobago views initiatives like this as essential to fortifying the commercial viability of our creative industries. By creating pathways for international promotion and ensuring that knowledge is shared locally, we are building a more informed, connected, and globally competitive creative sector,” stated Sekou Alleyne, CEO of Global Trinidad and Tobago.

Global Trinidad and Tobago remains committed to nurturing the next generation of music and film professionals by equipping them with the knowledge, networks, and opportunities needed to thrive in both local and international markets.
