The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has seized approximately 1.3 million dollars worth of cannabis during an intelligence-led anti-crime operation in the Cunupia Police District on Friday under State of Emergency regulations.
Officers conducted surveillance and a search operation at a residence on Rasheed Avenue, Munroe Road, Cunupia, acting on credible intelligence.
During the exercise, a 31-year-old taxi driver was detained and later led officers to concealed crocus bags in an abandoned structure nearby.
A coordinated search uncovered 187 kilogrammes of cannabis packaged in 187 trafficking packets, along with a Glock 19 pistol and 14 rounds of ammunition.
The suspect was arrested and cautioned in connection with possession of marijuana for trafficking, possession of a firearm, and possession of ammunition without a licence.
