The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) says it has completed a thorough investigation into the police-involved shooting of Joshua Samaroo, which occurred on January 20th at the corner of College Road and Dookiesingh Street in St. Augustine.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the TTPS said several exhibits collected during the investigation were submitted to the Forensic Science Centre in Port of Spain for analysis. Police said investigators had been awaiting the forensic report, which was received on Tuesday.
The investigating officers will now forward the matter to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for review and further legal guidance on the way forward.
The TTPS also reiterated their commitment to ensuring the matter is handled thoroughly, professionally and in keeping with due process, adding that the public will be updated on the outcome of the investigation in a timely manner.
