CARICOM has extended congratulations to the Government and people of T&T following its successful election to a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
CARICOM said the overwhelming support received during the June 3rd vote reflects the international community’s confidence in T&T’s longstanding commitment to multilateralism, peace and security, and the principles of the UN Charter.
The regional body described the achievement as a proud moment not only for Trinidad and Tobago but also for the Caribbean Community as a whole.
CARICOM expressed confidence that T&T will bring the unique perspectives of small island and low-lying coastal developing states to the Security Council, particularly on issues affecting vulnerable regions.
