Believe it or not, it has been eleven years already. The Kick It With Karyn tournament continues to grow and once again the event provided much-needed competition for footballers, young and old.
Family! Fun! Football! And it is more than a competition, it’s a movement. That is the goal of founder and director of Kick It With Karyn, Karyn Forbes. Hundreds of footballers, ranging from kids to adults, male and female, came out to Shaw Park recently for one of the most anticipated football tournaments on the calendar. Surprisingly, this has been the 11th edition already, which has seen steady growth over the years, as noted by event organizer Karyn Forbes.
The national footballer also credited the success of the tournament as the reason for the switch from their roots in Plymouth to the larger Shaw Park.
While we were there, we picked up a couple of championship moments where Chicas were crowned Under-15 Girls’ champions via a penalty shoot-out. They placed third in the Under-13 division as well.
Then Chicas were denied via the penalty spot by Jewels FC, who were crowned Open Division champions.
