Following the tremendous success of the MINDSTAR National Spelling Bee & Tech Park
2026, which culminated on 13th May 2026, A.L. Williams Educational Services &
Consultancy, in collaboration with the Office of the Member of Parliament for Point Fortin, the
Honourable Ernesto Kesar, proudly launched the MINDSTAR Labour Day Spelling Bee &
Tech Park 2026 – Point Fortin Constituency Primary Schools Edition.
This special Labour Day edition marks a significant innovation in the MINDSTAR programme.
For the first time, the competition adopted a school-versus-school team format, moving away
from the traditional model where individual students competed independently. Each participating
school was represented by a team of four students — one Standard 4 student and three Standard
5 students — encouraging collaboration, teamwork, strategic thinking, and collective school
pride.
The new format created an exciting atmosphere as schools worked together to prepare their
teams, strengthening student leadership, communication skills, and peer support while
maintaining the high standards of literacy excellence that have become synonymous with the
MINDSTAR brand.
The event brought together eleven primary schools across the Point Fortin constituency in a
celebration of literacy, innovation, creativity, and STEM learning. Students demonstrated
exceptional spelling ability, teamwork, critical thinking, and confidence throughout the
preliminary competition.

The MINDSTAR Labour Day Spelling Bee & Tech Park continues to provide students with
opportunities to engage in spelling competitions, robotics and innovation activities, coding and
digital learning experiences, 3D printing demonstrations, and STEM exploration stations
designed to inspire the next generation of innovators and wordsmiths.
The excitement will continue at the MINDSTAR Labour Day Spelling Bee & Tech Park 2026
Finals on Friday 12th June 2026, where students, teachers, parents, and supporters will have
the opportunity to experience an expanded Tech Park. This year’s Tech Park will be headlined
by NIHERST and Innovative Robotics Services, both of which will showcase cutting-edge
STEM technologies, robotics, innovation, and hands-on learning experiences designed to inspire
the next generation of scientists, engineers, innovators, and entrepreneurs.
In recognition of the significance of Labour Day and the contributions of workers to national
development, the Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU) will also host a special display
and educational discussion highlighting the history, achievements, and ongoing role of the labour
movement in Trinidad and Tobago. Students and attendees will gain valuable insights into
workers’ rights, social progress, and the important role trade unions have played in shaping the
nation’s development.
Special appreciation is extended to Bumpy’s Barbeque, which generously provided lunch for all
participating students and teachers during the preliminary competition. Their support helped
create a welcoming and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
A.L. Williams Educational Services & Consultancy also expresses sincere gratitude to The
Honourable Ernesto Kesar, MP for Point Fortin, whose vision and commitment to
educational development continue to create meaningful opportunities for the children of the
constituency.
