Two new energy companies have expressed interest to invest in Trinidad and Tobago.
Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Dr. Roodal Moonilal made the disclosure during his contribution to the Mid-Year Budget Review debate on Monday.
“In a few days we will meet 2 new players who we have never found before. Total Energies and Petronas. They are 2 global giants in this field and in a few days we will meet to have some discussions as well.”
Dr. Moonilal also revealed that Occidental Petroleum, which recently entered into arrangements to acquire an interest alongside ExxonMobil in the T&T Ultra Deepwater 1 project, is exploring additional investment opportunities.
“Recently you saw Oxy here. I am happy to announce as well that coming out of their visit here and talking to the Prime Minister, I think a few weeks ago, they have now expressed interest in the development of the South West marine area. And those discussions will continue.”
The Energy Minister said this growing investor interest signals continued confidence in Trinidad and Tobago’s energy sector.
