Minister Smith Advances Digital Cooperation With Singapore

Senator the Honourable Dominic Smith, Minister of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence, met with Her Excellency Karen Tan, Ambassador and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Singapore to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), to discuss opportunities for deeper collaboration in digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity and public sector innovation.

The meeting reaffirmed the strong relationship between Trinidad and Tobago and Singapore while exploring opportunities to deepen cooperation in digital government, responsible artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital identity, public service innovation and capacity building.

Discussions also explored opportunities for technical cooperation in digital government, ethical AI governance, cybersecurity and national digital identity systems. Both sides also examined opportunities for leadership development, knowledge exchange between Singapore’s Civil Service College and the Ministry’s Public Service Academy, and participation in regional and international digital initiatives.

The Minister also expressed interest in deepening engagement with Singapore’s leading digital institutions, including GovTech Singapore, the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA), the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and AI Singapore.

He also welcomed opportunities to engage through programmes such as the Singapore Cooperation Programme and the Digital Forum of Small States (Digital FOSS). Both parties expressed a shared commitment to advancing dialogue on practical areas of cooperation that support digital transformation and public sector innovation.

The engagement reflects the Ministry’s continued commitment to strengthening international partnerships that support Trinidad and Tobago’s digital transformation agenda.
