West Indies Pay The Price For Slow Over-Rate Against Sri Lanka

The West Indies have been hit with fines and points deductions after a slow over-rate in their second Test against Sri Lanka in Antigua.

The match referee, Javagal Srinath, handed down the sanctions after the West Indies were found to be two overs short of their target, once time allowances were factored in.

Under the ICC Code of Conduct, players are fined 5% of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in time. That means a 10% hit to their match fees this time.

The West Indies have also lost two World Test Championship points. Captain Roston Chase pleaded guilty, so no formal hearing was needed.
