Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander has confirmed that law enforcement authorities are investigating a serious threat against Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath.
Over the weekend, media reports indicated that Minister Padarath had been informed of the threat. He expressed confidence in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and stated that he would not allow the situation to cause him to live in fear.
Speaking to reporters on Monday following the launch of a barbering programme in Tunapuna, Minister Alexander said the matter received immediate attention after it was brought to his attention.
“The Ministers and I, we speak every day, every single day. And if something comes to my attention that needs urgent attention, it will be dealt with. It happens to the Minister, it happens to the public, however it is. Yes, a lot of communication took place, and it is necessary to think that it should be done now because of what we have unearthed. That’s all I’ll tell you.”
