For many survivors of gender-based violence, escaping abuse is only the beginning. Rebuilding financial independence, professional confidence and long-term stability can be equally challenging. Recognising that reality, Conflict Women Ltd. has entered into a strategic corporate partnership with Regency Recruitment and Resources Limited to turn opportunity into lasting empowerment.
Formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the partnership brings together Regency’s three decades of expertise in recruitment and workforce development with Conflict Women’s decade of commitment in supporting, training and empowering survivors of gender-based violence through entrepreneurship, business and art. By combining employment expertise with trauma-informed support, the collaboration will create structured pathways for meaningful work while advancing more inclusive hiring practices across Trinidad and Tobago.
Under the agreement, suitably qualified survivors of gender-based violence referred by Conflict Women will receive priority consideration through Regency’s recruitment network, alongside complimentary résumé consultations, interview preparation, career support, and internship and apprenticeship opportunities. Regency Recruitment will also lead an annual Butterfly Project workshop – focused on workplace readiness, professional communication and interview skills; equipping survivors with the confidence and practical tools needed to succeed in the workplace.
The collaboration reflects a shared belief that economic empowerment is one of the most effective ways to help survivors rebuild their lives and exit abuse. Beyond creating access to employment, the initiative seeks to remove barriers to opportunity while fostering financial independence, personal growth and long-term resilience.
For the past twelve years, Conflict Women has invested in survivors, providing them with seed capital grants to launch or expand their businesses, training in entrepreneurship, workshops in art and therapy, business mentorship and legal representation on court matters. Regency Recruitment joins Conflict Women’s list of corporate partners, which include Ernst and Young Trinidad, Hyatt Regency Trinidad, and Dreamstones Jewelry at the Falls at West Mall.
For Asiya Mohammed, Founder and CEO of Conflict Women Ltd., the partnership represents an investment in survivors’ potential: “I am very excited about the impact of this corporate partnership, placing survivors in jobs where they can earn a monthly income. Opportunities like this are critical given our current economic climate, the prevalence of gender-based violence in Trinidad and Tobago, and the challenges faced by survivors in exiting abusive relationships without the necessary financial means.”
The MoU forms part of Regency Recruitment’s 30th anniversary celebrations, marking three decades of connecting talent with opportunity while expanding its commitment to social impact.
Founded in 1996, the company has grown into one of Trinidad and Tobago’s leading recruitment and human resource service providers, offering recruitment, training, payroll outsourcing, relocation services and workforce development solutions to organisations across the region.
“As a woman-owned business, Regency is committed to advancing gender equality and supporting the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles,” said Lara Quentrall-Thomas, Chairman of Regency Recruitment and Resources Limited. “We believe this partnership with Conflict Women not only strengthens our commitment to being a socially responsible organisation, but also continues our legacy of connecting people with purpose. We are confident that, through meaningful employment opportunities, many survivors will be empowered to rebuild their lives with dignity and independence.”
The partnership exemplifies how collaboration between the private sector and civil society can generate meaningful social impact. Alongside direct employment opportunities, both organisations have committed to maintaining safe, inclusive and trauma-informed recruitment practices while protecting the privacy and dignity of all participants. Progress will be measured through candidate referrals, résumé consultations, internships, apprenticeships and successful job placements.
As Trinidad and Tobago continues to advance conversations around gender equality, workplace inclusion and economic resilience, both organisations hope the partnership will inspire greater collaboration between the private sector and civil society to create lasting opportunities for those rebuilding their lives.
