RC Mas Unveils ‘The Mystical Garden’ As Terri Lyons And Nailah Blackman Join Design Team

Soca and calypso royalty will be taking on several roles for Carnival 2027.

Over the weekend, RC Mas launched its 2027 presentation, “The Mystical Garden”, captivating patrons with a spellbinding showcase.

The evening also featured the launch of Carnival and Monday Wear collections by music stars Nailah Blackman and Terri Lyons, created in collaboration with RC Mas.

Blackman, one of the newest designers to join the RC Mas family, also officially launched Nailah Blackman and The Experience Band.

The artiste told TTT News she is ecstatic about this new chapter.

“Honestly I’m lost for words because it’s been so many years in the making, really crafting and having a band that I’m proud of, and every time I’ve worked with my band over the years, over like I want to say seven Soca Origins I’ve refined and just make something I’m truly proud of, so tonight being able to launch The Experience for the first time, officially, means a big one for me.”

National Calypso Monarch Terri Lyons has also thrown her designer hat in the ring, teaming up with RC Mas with her Monday wear collection.

According to RC Mas Director Justin McIntosh, the playful and whimsical theme was chosen by designer Nisha Felice.

“This year we wanted to go a little lighter on the theme. Last year was ‘The Webs We Weave,’ which was more storytelling, etc. so this year we just want to go a little lighter, keeping the Carnival spirit of whimsical, mystical, light, fun, because at the end of the day that’s the point of Carnival.”

He says the band has always ensured that their members are given the ultimate experience, and he assured them that in 2027 it will also deliver.

“More artistes, more experience, basically is kind of we going for, so you know more food, different variety of alcohol etc., we just trying to keep it fresh new, come up with something exciting for the year coming, so stay tuned.”

Many patrons expressed their excitement about hitting the road with RC in a couple of months, with some already envisioning themselves in their costumes.

They enjoyed a star-studded line-up, dancing the night away to some Soca favourites, including College Boy Jesse, Trini Baby, Tevin Hartman, Christo, and Tempa.
