Growing Opposition To Infantino As Football Associations Pull Support

The English Football Association is set to pull its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino, as fallout grows over his now-scrapped plan to sell stakes in FIFA competitions to private investors.

UEFA is threatening legal action over the FIFA proposal to sell stakes in its competitions, and the Wales Football Association has publicly withdrawn its backing for Infantino’s re-election bid.

The FA plans to write to Infantino directly, with sources telling the media that the Scottish FA remains aligned with UEFA’s lack of confidence in him.

Serbia, Sweden and Finland have also withdrawn support, while Qatar, Lebanon, Kuwait and Sri Lanka back him.

Infantino stands for re-election next March.
