Pan Trinbago President Beverley Ramsey-Moore is pushing back against critics, saying her administration has transformed the organisation, despite years of opposition from a small group within the steelband movement.
Speaking at the launch of two new compositions by Pan Trinbago, she said leading the organisation has not been an easy journey, revealing that she continues to face opposition from a handful of individuals.
“Recently I listened to a recording of one of them saying that the worst decision that pan men could have made is to vote for somebody who is a politician or who was a politician. Knowing how we would have fought so hard to take the national musical instrument, the organisation Pan Trinbago, I should say, out of the backwoods of society.”
The Pan Trinbago president also defended her administration’s record, arguing that the organisation has made significant progress since her executive took office in 2019.
“When we took over in 2019, we were not in a good place. We were not in a good place. But today we can boast that there is prosperity in pan. Today we can boast that there is no season for pans. Today we can boast that we are a prestigious organisation around the world being called upon every day.”
