Pinnacle Steel and Vanadium Company CEO Edwin Bennet has announced the refurbishment of the former ArcelorMittal steel facility, a move aimed at transforming Trinidad and Tobago into a major producer of vanadium.
This strategic metal is essential for aerospace and defence applications, and the facility is expected to produce enough vanadium to match roughly half of current U.S. consumption.
The initiative could help reduce global reliance on dominant producers China and Russia.
The announcement comes 10 years after the closure of the Point Lisas steel plant, signaling renewed momentum for the country’s manufacturing sector.
