As children across Trinidad and Tobago prepare to return to the classroom in September, RBC Royal Bank believes no child should be left behind and is taking action to make this a reality.
RBC has donated TT$15,000 to the Saidwan Foundation, an investment that will be channeled directly
to families in the form of vouchers for schoolbooks and uniforms. The contribution was presented to Mr.
Ahmed Saidwan, Chairman of the Saidwan Foundation, by Sheryl Boodram, Branch Manager High
Street, a gesture that reflected the Bank’s ongoing commitment to education and community wellbeing.
Marc Jardine, Managing Director, RBC Royal Bank Trinidad and Tobago, underscored the contribution
as an expression of the Bank’s deeper commitment to the communities it serves.
“At RBC, our purpose is to help clients thrive and communities prosper, and that purpose has to mean
something beyond the branch,” said Jardine. “Showing up for families at a moment like this, in a way
that’s practical and immediate, is exactly what being a good neighbour looks like”.
The donation was made possible through RBC’s Education Foundation, chaired by Simone Edwards,
Head, Sales Enablement and Strategic Communication, RBC Caribbean Banking (Trinidad and Tobago).
“Education is one of the most powerful investments we can make in the future of our communities,” said
Simone Edwards. “For many families, the start of a new school term brings real financial pressure and
something as essential as a schoolbook or a uniform should never stand between a child and their
education”.
The Saidwan Foundation works to uplift vulnerable communities across Trinidad and Tobago through
targeted programmes focused on education, health and social welfare. This venture with RBC Royal
Bank underscores the shared belief that private sector investment in community wellbeing creates
lasting, generational impact.
