UTC Interns Build AI Skills Through Creative Lab Experience

The Unit Trust Corporation (UTC) proudly supported the AI Creative Lab for Young People, hosted by Gayelle Limited, with a sponsorship of $20,000 and $4,000 in Children’s Investment Starter Plan (CISP) accounts to help empower the next generation of innovators.

As part of this initiative, UTC interns participated in the four-day immersive programme, held from July 13–17, 2026, where they gained practical experience using artificial intelligence as a creative and professional tool.

Designed to move participants from AI awareness to hands-on application, the programme introduced interns to AI fundamentals, prompting, storytelling, scriptwriting, visual and audio content creation, branding, campaign development and the responsible use of AI technologies.

Reflecting on the experience, programme facilitator, Mr. Errol Fabien said, “The lab was intended to show the participants that AI is more than fact checking and the weather. They built presentations, videos, songs and, most important for them, they explored solutions to some tasks they have as apprentices of the TTUTC. Leading the sessions with the interns was a throwback to my days at Gayelle when we were breaking yet another frontier, empowering young people to be broadcast professionals.”

Throughout the week, participants collaborated to produce youth-focused campaign concepts, social media content ideas and 15-second AI-assisted advertisements, strengthening their creativity, critical thinking and digital communication skills while applying their new knowledge to real-world workplace challenges.

The programme also featured a dedicated UTC financial literacy session, where interns explored the importance of saving and investing early, building long-term financial security and making informed financial decisions. The session highlighted relevant UTC investment products and reinforced the Corporation’s commitment to fostering financial literacy among young people.

UTC’s support of the AI Creative Lab reflects the Corporation’s ongoing commitment to investing in youth development by equipping young people with both future-ready digital skills and the financial knowledge needed to succeed in an evolving world.
