Senior officers in the Central Division have confirmed that enforcement efforts have intensified, with hundreds of outstanding warrants executed, including the arrest of members of an alleged gang.
Speaking at the TTPS Media Briefing on Wednesday, Senior Superintendent Rudolph Bhagwandeen noted that Central Division police have also recorded an increase in firearm recoveries.
“The execution of warrants is also a high-priority item in the Central Division, with 310 persons arrested for the year thus far on outstanding warrants, resulting in the execution of 524 warrants of varying types. There was a 19% increase in firearm recoveries for the comparative period 2025 to 2026. In total, we have a number of 93 firearms recovered in Central Division for the year thus far and a total of 3,098 rounds of ammunition recovered in the Central Division for the year thus far.”
Senior Superintendent Bhagwandeen says a coordinated operation in April also led to the arrest of members of a home invasion gang.
“On April 17th, 2026, officers of the Central Division, in coordination with officers from other divisions and sections, successfully arrested a home invasion gang, thus removing a threat to public safety.”
