Six improvised weapons were discovered concealed at the top of a cell at the Eastern Correctional (ECRC) during a search operation conducted by prison officers on Tuesday.
A media release stated that officers were conducting a search in the Hope Division of the ECRC when the weapons were discovered.
It noted that improvised weapons pose a serious threat within the correctional environment, with the potential to endanger the safety and security of both inmates and prison personnel.
The release added that their detection and removal remain critical to maintaining order, reducing the risk of violence and preserving a safe and secure environment within correctional facilities.
