Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC met with ExxonMobil Trinidad and Tobago Operations Manager, Dr. Bram Willemsen, for discussions on the company’s ongoing activities and future opportunities in the local energy sector.
Dr. Willemsen praised the ease of doing business in Trinidad and Tobago, noting that ExxonMobil was able to secure the approvals and complete the administrative requirements for seismic activities faster than in any other jurisdiction where the company operates.
He also expressed optimism about ExxonMobil’s ongoing technical work and the possibility of a hydrocarbon discovery that could bring significant benefits to the country’s economy.
The Prime Minister welcomed the company’s confidence in Trinidad and Tobago, while reaffirming Government’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment that facilitates investment and allows companies to begin operations efficiently.
The Government says its focus remains on attracting foreign investment, creating sustainable jobs, expanding economic opportunities and developing new revenue streams.
Also participating in the meeting were Energy and Energy Industries Minister Dr. Roodal Moonilal, Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Minister Sean Sobers, and Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries Ernesto Kesar.
