Despite an adverse yellow level weather alert, the 58th edition of the Great Race, one of the world’s longest powerboat competitions, got underway on Saturday morning.
The event saw a fleet 27 boats lined up for the 90-mile high-speed journey from Trinidad to Tobago.
One of the longest powerboat races in the world wrote its 58th chapter which began with spectators gathering at the foreshore to witness Saturday’s 2026 Great Race. The race took place at 7:15am on with twenty-seven boats taking part it the 90-mile high speed race from Trinidad to Tobago.
This year’s edition proved to be even more challenging one with with a yellow adverse weather alert taking place but didn’t those in attendance like the ones in this houseboat near the finish line in Tobago
The standout boat on the day went to Track Heatwave piloted by John Michael Sabga and Morgan Honnock. Track Heatwave became the first boat to cross the finish line while winning the 80 miles per hour E Class Division, also claiming the crown of fastest boat.
