Arsenal have sent a message to the rest of the English Premier League that they are the ones to beat in the upcoming season. The Gunners took the FA Community Shield today with a comfortable 3-0 win over Manchester City at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff Wales.
The league winners Arsenal took less than 30 seconds to get on the scoresheet when Riccardo Calafiori got free to slot home.
Kai Havertz then got his name on the scoresheet in the 28th minute to double his team’s advantage. They led two nothing at the half.
FA Cup winners Manchester City under new coach Enzo Maresca looked second best all afternoon and conceded three minutes after resumption with another soft goal which came from captain Martin Odegard. 3-0 Arsenal easily took the Community Shield. With the curtain raiser now out of the way, the EPL gets underway in earnest on Friday when Arsenal host promoted team Coventry City.
