Inmate Gets 18 Months For Possession Of Prohibited Items

An inmate has been sentenced to 18 months’ simple imprisonment in connection with the discovery and seizure of several prohibited items during a joint intelligence-led exercise between the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service on June 26th.

A press release from the TTPS indicated that charges were laid against 11 inmates, with one inmate, Kadeem Samuel, appearing before a Port of Spain Magistrate today.

Samuel, who was already on remand in connection with a murder, pleaded guilty to the charge arising from the June 26th operation.

The charge was laid by ASP Stanley of the DCP Operations Team.

Further matters arising from the June 26th, 2026 operation remain before the courts.
