A new digital learning platform featuring e-books, video simulations and an artificial intelligence-powered learning assistant is set to transform how Form One and Form Two students engage with learning across six subject areas.
Students entering Form One and those advancing to Form Two will benefit from the platform, which covers Mathematics, English Language Arts, Social Sciences, Integrated Science, Information and Communication Technology, and Spanish.
Education Minister Dr Michael Dowlath demonstrated the platform’s capabilities during its launch on Wednesday, showing how the interactive avatar can guide students through problems using step-by-step explanations.
He said the digital content will be introduced on a term-by-term basis, can be accessed even without an internet connection, and complements the national curriculum while catering to different learning styles and abilities.
“Sometimes the difference between a student saying, I cannot do this, and a student saying, I understand now, is another explanation, another example, another opportunity to practice, or another way of presenting the material. And this is another way of presenting the material, making it more attractive to our learners.”
As part of the initiative, Form Two teachers in the six subject areas will receive laptops to support AI-enabled instruction in the classroom.
The programme will be supported by the Ministry’s Internet Connectivity and Bandwidth Expansion Project.
“These laptops will allow teachers to access the same content as their students, prepare lessons using the platform, demonstrate the digital materials and the avatar during instruction, test activities, receive term-by-term updates, and provide informed feedback. We cannot ask teachers to lead digital learning without providing the tools required to do so.”
Dr Dowlath also assured stakeholders that all content on the platform underwent a rigorous quality assurance process.
He said 66 practising Secondary School teachers were involved in reviewing, validating, revising and approving the material before its release.
The platform also includes built-in safeguards to ensure interactions remain focused on curriculum-based educational content and learning objectives.
Parents and students are being encouraged to take full advantage of the platform as the Ministry continues its push towards a more technology-driven and future-ready education system.
