Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Nicholas Morris says the State of Emergency has done its job, as figures released by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service show a reduction in crime.
Speaking to TTT News, he said based on the statistics showing decreases in crime across all police divisions, the Prime Minister has been vindicated for the decision to implement the SOE.
“The figures released by the TTPS and by the Prime Minister showing the reduction in crime, showing the number of arrests and so on vindicate that the Prime Minister was correct for the implementation of the last SOE. We have seen murders have been reduced, we’ve seen the country is safer, and it is a vindication of the Prime Minister’s decisions, vision and policy.”
The Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister said, in addition to the positive results of the SOE, the Prime Minister’s position in supporting the US against narco-trafficking has benefited T&T’s borders.
“Now we also have the strongest ever relationship with the United States. We look at our policy with Venezuela, the Prime Minister is leading from the front to build that relationship, and you are seeing a flow of resources and partnerships, so the Prime Minister continues to be vindicated in her major policy decisions.”
