The Chinese community in Trinidad and Tobago is highlighting more than two centuries of heritage and contribution to national life.
A cultural event organised in partnership with the National Trust showcased Chinese food, art, music and traditional practices.

More than two centuries after the arrival of the Chinese in Trinidad and Tobago, their heritage is being celebrated as part of the country’s wider national story.
The Chinese Bicentennial Event held at Mille Fleurs brought together food, art, traditional performances and demonstrations to give the public a closer look at Chinese culture.
Franco Siu Chong, president of the Chinese Bicentennial Limited said after 2 hundred and 20 years there is a lot of local Chinese pride.
The showcase included Chinese food, artwork, lion and dragon dances and Tai Chi giving visitors both a taste of Chinese tradition and a look at how that heritage has evolved within Trinidad and Tobago.
Council member of the National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago Dr Ryan Mohammed says the event is part of a wider preservation of our heritage.
