Health Minister, Dr. Lackram Bodoe says government is working to increase blood drives across the country.
The Minister joined The Society For Inherited and Severe Blood Disorders to raise awareness of blood diseases through its walkathon on Sunday.
Minister of Health Dr. Lackram Bodoe, once again joined the The Society For Inherited and Severe Blood Disorders Trinidad and Tobago, for their annual walkathon to raise awareness and support those living with blood diseases locally.
The Minister highlighted that the first child who would have benefited from amendments made to the Children’s Life Fund Act, was a sickle cell patient who successfully received bone marrow transplant.
He further noted that the Ministry has increased its national blood drive by nearly fifty percent, and is currently working to increase that figure.
The association is also encouraging citizens to become voluntary blood donors to help ensure that blood is readily available for anyone in need, particularly patients who require transfusions every three weeks.
