The National Budget Statement for the Fiscal Year 2027/2028 will be presented by Finance Minister Davendranath Tancoo on Monday, October 12th, 2026, at 1:30pm.
The announcement was made on Thursday evening by the Office of the Prime Minister.
In his fiscal presentation last year, Minister Tancoo delivered the budget under the theme “T&T First: Building Economic Fairness through Accountable Fiscal Policies”.
The 2025–2026 National Budget was presented with a fiscal deficit of $3.865 billion, with Education and Training receiving the lion’s share with $8.76 billion.
Meanwhile, Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath visited his Ministry just after 11pm on Wednesday, noting that at the end of the financial year, Permanent Secretaries and accounting staff at Ministries and State Enterprises stay all night on the job to facilitate the transition.
Also visiting staff was Minister of Land and Legal Affairs Saddam Hosein, who noted that dedicated staff continue to ensure that the books are properly closed and the financial year comes to an official end.
