The T&T Police Service says investigations are continuing into a viral social media video showing a man allegedly verbally and physically abusing a woman inside a vehicle.
Speaking at a Media Briefing on Thursday, Public Information Officer of the TTPS, ASP Owie Russell, also responded to questions about another video circulating online in which an individual appears to be threatening the alleged perpetrator.
He cautioned members of the public against making threats, reminding them that such actions could result in legal consequences.
“What I would want to caution persons, report of threats is indeed an offence. So I would advise persons out there to manage their emotions and their statements so that they don’t find themselves on the other side of the law.”
In a media release issued on Wednesday, the TTPS encouraged anyone experiencing domestic abuse to seek assistance or contact emergency services by calling 999.
It also stressed that domestic abuse extends beyond physical violence and can include threats, intimidation and controlling behaviour.
