The Agriculture sector has been allocated $987 million in the 2027 National Budget.
In his presentation, Finance Minister Davendranath Tancoo said the Government will continue to work to reduce this country’s food import bill and create sustainable employment.
The Minister said emphasis will be placed on investing in young people to build successful futures in agriculture.
“I therefore propose to expand the Agricultural Internship Programme from 30 interns to 100 interns. The Programme will connect young people with opportunities across the agricultural value chain, from primary production and agro-processing to technology, research, distribution and other agricultural services.”
