Government Strengthening Municipal Police Service

Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, Khadijah Ameen has confirmed that administrative changes have been implemented to strengthen security at Municipal Police Stations, following the death of a San Fernando Municipal police officer earlier this year.

During her contribution to the 2027 Budget Debate, she outlined a series of investments aimed at enhancing the operational capacity of Municipal Police Services across the country.

“We are going to invest 2 million dollars in the Municipal Training Facility for our officers. We are going to invest 2.5 million and 2 million respectively in acquiring policing equipment and vehicles. So just as the TTPS is being upgraded, we will have 100 wireless communication devices, 100 body cameras, 16 heavy duty printers, and 30 computers for each of the 14 municipal police stations and the Municipal Academy.”
