Panorama 2027 Launched With Focus On Youth, Tribute To Sparrow

Building the future of steelpan through the nation’s young people was a central message from Pan Trinbago President Beverley Ramsey-Moore as she launched National Panorama 2027 on Sunday at the Queen’s Park Savannah.

She expressed her strong support for the young people involved in the steelpan movement.

“I am your youth leader because the largest group of young people you can find anywhere is in the steelpan movement. And so, and so we look forward to all our partners; we look forward to all our partners, community development, youth development, social development, tourism, all the arms of government, we stand ready to work with whomever to ensure that Trinidad and Tobago becomes a strong and powerful nation.”

The Pan Trinbago President noted that the local Panorama competition remains the envy of the region, highlighting its unmatched scale, prestige and enduring appeal.

“Culture in itself is a strong platform that can bring about meaningful change right here in Trinidad and Tobago. And so, I am so proud of the youth energy, I am so proud of all of our steelband leaders. Listen, we are the mecca. Everybody else wants a Panorama like Trinidad and Tobago. Every Caribbean island wants a Panorama like Trinidad and Tobago.”

Mrs Ramsey-Moore also highlighted the value of pan yards as places where young people can develop their talent, build character and find a sense of belonging within their communities.

“We say there is no season for pan, so we hold you, young people, in the safe and sacred spaces of the panyard where we empower you, where we train you, where you meet with your friends, social, where you discuss things, where you, as young people, learn to work as a team, where you, as young people, learn to resolve your conflicts.”

The theme for National Panorama 2027 is ‘Bring Yuh Energy, Match D’ Rhythm’, and the season is dedicated to the late Mighty Sparrow, Dr Slinger Francisco.
