Couva North MP Jearlean John Calls On Constituents To Unite For Progress

Member of Parliament for Couva North, Jearlean John, is calling on constituents to work alongside her to improve their communities and create better lives for all.

The appeal came during Divali celebrations at Jerry Junction on Thursday evening, where she expressed confidence that collective effort can help unlock the area’s full potential.

She urged members of her constituency to work alongside her to improve their lives.

“I know that we are going to work together to ensure that Couva North comes into that promise that it has. I am very optimistic about this constituency of Couva North. I don’t know what I did, but we have to thank the honourable Prime Minister that she sent me here.”

The MP for Couva North noted that she placed a high value on the activities within the community, explaining that she had put other things aside to attend the function.

“When she knew, when I told her I was leaving the Cabinet meeting today. I mean, my good colleague, Minister Alexander, just found himself here and Minister Watts, they just got here. But I boycotted the Cabinet today. I say I going Couva North. And the Prime Minister said, ‘Ensure, make sure you give them my love.’ And you know how much she loves you, okay? So make sure you pray for our honourable Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.”

Meanwhile, a young member of the constituency, Vinaya Beepath, commended the MP for including the community’s youth in the celebrations.

“Thank the honourable Ms Jearlean John for giving the children of the Kailash Ashram and the community the opportunity to perform today. It showcases how much you value the community and the development of the youth, for we are the present and we are the future.”

Minister John lit the first deya to open the area’s Divali celebrations, which included music, dancing, traditional food and the retelling of the Ramayana.
