Acting Commissioner of Police Junior Benjamin says the investigation into the matter involving Erla Harewood-Christopher continues.
At a Police Media Briefing in Port of Spain on Friday, the Acting Police Commissioner explained that the appropriate steps are being taken within the law to ensure that the matter is handled professionally and with integrity.
“This matter with the Commissioner of Police is at a very sensitive stage and it is actively being investigated. We are at the point where the matter is before the DPP and we await at this time the advice, and I want to say the advice of the DPP.”
Mrs. Harewood-Christopher was arrested and detained for questioning in January, regarding accusations of unlawful procurement of firearms for the Strategic Services Agency (SSA). She was released days later from custody and subsequently removed from office pending findings of the active investigation.
