A lagniappe is a French term for a little something extra, and this extra something was delivered in spectacular fashion at the Queen’s Park Savannah on Saturday evening.
We have more in this story.
It was an evening for the champions to show why they won the top titles for Carnival.
Pan Trinbago hosted Carnival Lagniappe: A Night with the Champions of Carnival 2026—Steelpan, Mas, and Calypso. The night started with the champions from the schools’ pan category, the St. Francois Valley Stars, winners in the Pan Trinbago Under-19 category, setting the tempo for the evening.
Later, they were followed by the King and Queen of Carnival, Curtis Eustace and Roxanne Omalo, showing off their spectacular design portrayals once more on the big stage.
They were followed by another queen of sorts, the National Calypso Monarch, Terri Lyons, revisiting her winning rendition of Blessings.
And from the road to the stage came the record-breaking Road March champion, Machel Montano.
Rounding up the performances for the night and preaching the gospel of pan were the big band champions, Republic Bank Exodus Steel Orchestra.
