Central FC Clinch Second

On Monday we brought you the crowning of unbeaten TT Premier League Champions Defence Force; we close off our season’s highlights with a ten-goal fiesta between MIC Central FC Reboot and Terminix La Horquetta Rangers, which had a significant impact on the race for the Golden Boot.

MIC Central FC Reboot had Misc Police FC hot on their tails and just one point adrift of second spot in the TTPFL so a win against a tricky Terminix La Horquetta Rangers was vital if they were to grab that automatic spot to the Concacaf Caribbean Cup, especially since Police were meeting bottom club Point Fortin Civic FC

Central FC got the mission started early with Tyrone Charles scoring in the first minute, he made it 2-0 with a tame strike in the 16th minute after a solo run from midfield. That’s his 15th of the season to bring him within striking distance of long-time goal-scoring leaders from the Defence Force Kevin Molino and Isaiah Leacock both away on National duty.

La Horquetta Rangers would respond in the 29th minute. Josiah Edwards beat Jabari Brice from point-blank range to make it 2-1.

Brice recently returned from a professional stint in Croatia, this must have given his defence confidence to leave him exposed, but Edwards did not mind as he levelled the score at 2 with a fortunate deflection in the 33rd minute. That would be the score at the break.

Five minutes after the restart, Daniel David would retake the lead for Central FC with a well taken long distance strike, which goalkeeper Thane Devonish found out about late, 3-2. Kadeem Corbin then got on the scoresheet to make it 4-2 as he glided in from atop the box in the 52nd.

It became three goals in 7 minutes with a gift from Rangers to Tyrone Charles as he got back scoring to register his hat trick while going joint-top of the goals chart with Molino and Leacock 5-2 Central FC.

Malik Mieres made it 6-2 in the 70th with the header off the corner as he out jumped Tyrone with the defenders on holiday.

The scoring title was wrapped up in the 81st when Tyrone Charles got his 4th on the night to move to 17 goals for the season and pip the military men (away with the national team) for the title.

An ovation from the small crowd at Phase 2 in La Horquetta for the scoring champion.

There was still entertainment to be had, though, as Kesaen St Rose puts on a dance class, then beats Brice in the 87th to get a third for Rangers.

But the night belonged to Tyrone Charles MIC Central FC Reboot, who are heading to the Concacaf Caribbean Cup with the 7-3 win over Terminix La Horquetta Rangers.
