La Horquetta Rangers Secure Crucial 3–0 Victory

Relegation is part of the discussion as the TT Premier Football League reaches deep into the second round, and two teams in that discussion met on Saturday night at the Ken Cooke Ground on Long Circular Road. We have the highlights.

Terminix La Horquetta Rangers and FC Eagles are in the bottom three of the TT Premier Football League Tier 1 points standings and are prime candidates for relegation to Tier 2. They met at the Police Barracks at the Ken Cooke Ground for a Match Day 16 clash.

La Horquetta were in the cellar position going into the encounter and were seeking only their third win of the campaign. After a scrappy opening 30 minutes, they were the ones to open their account—Stephano Christopher putting his shot out of the reach of Akiel Siefert in the Eagles goal to make it 1–0 in the 35th minute.

They took that lead into the halftime break, with this cheeky attempt by Dominic Douglas the only real highlight of the Eagles’ first half.

La Horquetta would benefit from a mistake of epic proportions by Eagles goalkeeper Siefert, who distributed the ball a mere 18 meters and straight to Kern Roberts, who gleefully accepted the gift—2–0 in the 54th minute.

Siefert was determined to make up for it and did so with some neat saves.

Just as he began to look solid, Ricardo Jashee Williams squeezed one past him from a tight angle to put Rangers 3–0 up in the 84th minute.

Things got worse for Eagles when their captain, Tyrone Charles, was shown the red card by referee CJ O’Brien as the final whistle neared.

3–0 La Horquetta Rangers over FC Eagles is how it would end, with both teams remaining in the bottom three.
