Minister of Energy and Energy Industries Dr. Roodal Moonilal has expressed his pleasure with bpTT’s completion of the Cypre seven-well drilling programme, a project that can contribute to another 10% of the country’s natural gas output.
Dr. Moonilal said the successful delivery of the programme marks a key achievement for the sector.
“I want to begin by congratulating the bpTT team on the successful completion of the Cypre project. The Cypre subsea development is made up of seven wells. bpTT announced first gas from Cypre in March 2025 after completion of phase one with four wells. Today, we are glad to see the additional three wells for phase two are now online.”
Dr. Moonilal also announced that the wells were completed ahead of schedule.
“These wells were originally planned to come online in 2026. However, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, bpTT was able to accelerate first gas for phase two in 2025. This efficiency augurs well for our natural gas supply. At peak production, Cypre is expected to deliver 45,000 barrels of oil.”
