Member of Parliament for Chaguanas East, Vandana Mohit, is calling for the establishment of a Mobile Police Unit in Chaguanas.
Speaking at a breakfast meeting hosted by the Chaguanas Chamber of Industry and Commerce, she suggested that the unit be stationed in the vicinity of Price Plaza.
The MP believes such a move could support communities and businesses in the area, amid growing concerns over crime.
“This mobile unit can serve dual functions: a rapid response team and a community outreach mechanism, allowing law enforcement to remain connected to the ground reality, and shift dynamically to emerging threats.”
In response, Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro assured the MP that the Police Service is listening.
“TTPS has adopted predictive analytics and crime mapping to optimize resource deployment, business districts like Chaguanas and business areas such like Price Plaza, now benefit from targeted patrols aligned with peak activity and vulnerability forecasting.”
MP Mohit and Commissioner Guevarro shared their views at a Breakfast Meeting in Chaguanas on Thursday.
