Several users of the nation’s ports and piers are in arrears to the tune of US$90 million.
The National Energy Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago manages the nation’s tugs, ports, and pier infrastructure, and said the users of these facilities have been delinquent in making payments to the NEC for years.
Some accounts are in excess of 120 days, well over the standard 30-day terms of payment.
During the last two weeks, the company has issued formal notices as it seeks to settle its accounts.
In the interim, National Energy has so far been able to recover more than TT$35 million.
